As much as some would love to finally tie Rasputin’s lineage to Putin, no, there is no relation. Putin is the current president of Russia, whose full name is Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin (Vladimirovich is like “Son of Vladimir”). There are no ancestral ties to Rasputin, though there are some outdated jokes about it. RasPutin (the First Putin), “Ras” being like the sound of “one” or “first”, and DvaPutin (Dva = two, or second). RasPutin, DvaPutin.
Putin’s Pedigree
Well, good luck unraveling that. Many different documents have surfaced claiming that Vladimir Putin’s ethnicity is part Jew from his mother’s side, other documents show him being of full Russian nationality. I guess Russian’s are good at photoshop is the take-away here. These documents are nothing compared to the pictures of Putin wearing some kind of Kippah, Putin wearing traditional Chinese clothing, even Putin in a Poncho. It’s hard to tell what is real anymore, but one thing is for sure, he is not related to Rasputin. How do we know? Because while we may not know Putin’s pedigree, we do know lineage. We know what happened to Rasputin’s litter of kids, the ones who survived anyway, and none of their lineage aligns with Vladimir Putin’s, neither does Putin’s ancestry align with theirs.
